It is essentially de-co-padged maps with many many layers of water based floor grade poly on top. I spent more than a couple weeks getting a desirable thickness, but it is ever so fun. <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Pk7Ql4rXJH8/UNkCqdsjcgI/AAAAAAAABu4/cIlxi9EO144/s640/blogger-image--32361057.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Pk7Ql4rXJH8/UNkCqdsjcgI/AAAAAAAABu4/cIlxi9EO144/s640/blogger-image--32361057.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-cKxfO-dq6hE/UNkCuyrbsGI/AAAAAAAABvY/C8vV8EoniYE/s640/blogger-image-1348362952.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-cKxfO-dq6hE/UNkCuyrbsGI/AAAAAAAABvY/C8vV8EoniYE/s640/blogger-image-1348362952.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-BYVQgDeWhZc/UNkCtkskuBI/AAAAAAAABvQ/wTK51FqCNWs/s640/blogger-image--1936824109.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-BYVQgDeWhZc/UNkCtkskuBI/AAAAAAAABvQ/wTK51FqCNWs/s640/blogger-image--1936824109.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-NIvey9Esnno/UNkCrjA8M-I/AAAAAAAABvA/I_0hc9OD5jU/s640/blogger-image--949453904.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-NIvey9Esnno/UNkCrjA8M-I/AAAAAAAABvA/I_0hc9OD5jU/s640/blogger-image--949453904.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-RBno4wGsNZ4/UNkCskLYvzI/AAAAAAAABvI/uWlzpjBS70E/s640/blogger-image--2046218954.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-RBno4wGsNZ4/UNkCskLYvzI/AAAAAAAABvI/uWlzpjBS70E/s640/blogger-image--2046218954.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-82757622585301364882012-10-08T16:51:00.001-07:002012-10-08T16:51:49.493-07:00Propane and WallWe had an open house here last night (for the house and a going away party for someone else). I finished several things off just in time. Both the heater and cooktop are now hooked up and ready to go. The wall has tongue and groove. The sink is in place, but still needs plumbing. The trash can drawer slides out smoothly. Lots of people just thought my sawdust composting toilet plan is weird. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ICpk19Ofdxc/UHNnCfwNebI/AAAAAAAABt8/-T64xe-QrSg/s640/blogger-image-1332832786.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ICpk19Ofdxc/UHNnCfwNebI/AAAAAAAABt8/-T64xe-QrSg/s640/blogger-image-1332832786.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-43vcmgnwnfE/UHNnDD7zEKI/AAAAAAAABuE/v3Djp-HxP_0/s640/blogger-image-1420961643.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-43vcmgnwnfE/UHNnDD7zEKI/AAAAAAAABuE/v3Djp-HxP_0/s640/blogger-image-1420961643.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-oTdNYnmAAms/UHNnDe-3gSI/AAAAAAAABuM/kKk_WgqCie8/s640/blogger-image--25993761.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-oTdNYnmAAms/UHNnDe-3gSI/AAAAAAAABuM/kKk_WgqCie8/s640/blogger-image--25993761.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-fOKX35UpbA0/UHNnEXNheYI/AAAAAAAABuU/CVVdcFer5WA/s640/blogger-image--1955716599.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-fOKX35UpbA0/UHNnEXNheYI/AAAAAAAABuU/CVVdcFer5WA/s640/blogger-image--1955716599.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ZcSKaJTqL4M/UHNnE31B2TI/AAAAAAAABuc/dBwWxJz2jVk/s640/blogger-image-881191172.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ZcSKaJTqL4M/UHNnE31B2TI/AAAAAAAABuc/dBwWxJz2jVk/s640/blogger-image-881191172.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-3814625297438772462012-09-15T20:48:00.001-07:002012-09-15T20:48:00.557-07:00Some stuff done...So since the last post some things have been finished, but many others are only half done. <br />
Ladder- done and installed<br />
Kitchen Cabinet under the counter- done, but needs sanding and painting. <br />
Propane- plumbed the black pipe underneath and up through the floor. We are still waiting for some hoses/fittings/regulators to come in the mail next week. <br />
Heater- now fastened to the wall<br />
Propane tanks- In place and waiting to go<br />
Shelf Wall between the bathroom and living area- built and sanded. Needs paint and tongue and groove pine on the living area side. There are clear sliding doors to the shelves on the bathroom side. <br />
<br />
Next up<br />

Drew and I disagree on whether the vertical boards on the corners of the house should be blue. Since I was the one painting, they are white. The door has been the bane of my existence, but is partially primered. Eventually, it will be a medium teal color. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-fNGELERBGhY/UCrl60pPffI/AAAAAAAABsU/nsj3vnX_1U0/s640/blogger-image--711616723.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-fNGELERBGhY/UCrl60pPffI/AAAAAAAABsU/nsj3vnX_1U0/s640/blogger-image--711616723.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Z889JDWgjFw/UCrl7eJq87I/AAAAAAAABsc/erSBSPtEYr4/s640/blogger-image--202549673.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Z889JDWgjFw/UCrl7eJq87I/AAAAAAAABsc/erSBSPtEYr4/s640/blogger-image--202549673.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-49110806928081443512012-08-14T16:45:00.001-07:002012-08-14T16:45:00.185-07:00Pocket DoorThe pocket door between the main area and the bathroom is made out of leftover t&g pine. The side you can't see looks exactly like the walls. Some oak still needs to be added around the circumference for trim. Dad did a nice job of recessing the track in the ceiling. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-mubB_hnXqzA/UCri9xO714I/AAAAAAAABr0/IVcA0o3BW_k/s640/blogger-image-834816456.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-mubB_hnXqzA/UCri9xO714I/AAAAAAAABr0/IVcA0o3BW_k/s640/blogger-image-834816456.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8EX6BSzbaIY/UCri-Wb1m4I/AAAAAAAABr8/irSe36uXTFk/s640/blogger-image--672027156.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8EX6BSzbaIY/UCri-Wb1m4I/AAAAAAAABr8/irSe36uXTFk/s640/blogger-image--672027156.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-56962144643104084102012-07-26T23:17:00.001-07:002012-07-26T23:17:24.328-07:00Some finishing touches doneWe got the 24" ceiling fan up and having the extra air movement is great. Especially since we started sleeping up in the loft where there is a little more room. Juno loves to come up and take naps, but Lucy will only come up if you stay too. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UVXIJJvP4io/UBIya0WhV4I/AAAAAAAABrM/G8r8zrA4tYA/s640/blogger-image--371751748.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UVXIJJvP4io/UBIya0WhV4I/AAAAAAAABrM/G8r8zrA4tYA/s640/blogger-image--371751748.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-lpi-pxWbCsk/UBIyb9eWgTI/AAAAAAAABrU/67r6sThyMk8/s640/blogger-image-1048055159.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-lpi-pxWbCsk/UBIyb9eWgTI/AAAAAAAABrU/67r6sThyMk8/s640/blogger-image-1048055159.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-PrnX1t4PABU/UBIycovnk5I/AAAAAAAABrc/-4T5faiYlIs/s640/blogger-image-996478276.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-PrnX1t4PABU/UBIycovnk5I/AAAAAAAABrc/-4T5faiYlIs/s640/blogger-image-996478276.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-39529172979493517042012-07-26T23:09:00.001-07:002012-07-26T23:09:19.585-07:00Worm BinSo I got this crazy idea that I should have a built in composting worm bin. So I went to my local cash and carry and picked up a couple serving trays. I like the tray system the best because they have the worms sort themselves out for you. I guess we will see. If it doesn't work, it was a fun idea and I made it out of left over tongue and groove pine scraps. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-LelgOm71ECs/UBIwgO2NlBI/AAAAAAAABqs/8Q9u1zmTf5U/s640/blogger-image-1358890920.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-LelgOm71ECs/UBIwgO2NlBI/AAAAAAAABqs/8Q9u1zmTf5U/s640/blogger-image-1358890920.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-OwiLeomOFlE/UBIwhMJBfWI/AAAAAAAABq0/Pas6xIrAxis/s640/blogger-image-375483503.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-OwiLeomOFlE/UBIwhMJBfWI/AAAAAAAABq0/Pas6xIrAxis/s640/blogger-image-375483503.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-azYB710XxXc/UBIwhuoGz0I/AAAAAAAABq8/rha_XqVNVnk/s640/blogger-image--562943788.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-azYB710XxXc/UBIwhuoGz0I/AAAAAAAABq8/rha_XqVNVnk/s640/blogger-image--562943788.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-553McVNcHb4/UBIwjeQOpiI/AAAAAAAABrE/piTC3v9NRBM/s640/blogger-image--1666112375.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-553McVNcHb4/UBIwjeQOpiI/AAAAAAAABrE/piTC3v9NRBM/s640/blogger-image--1666112375.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-8905776002916069572012-07-26T23:04:00.001-07:002012-07-26T23:04:12.469-07:00LadderSo to buy one of those fancy ladders that roll in libraries it costs something like $800. Too much. $300 would be too much. So I designed a ladder after watching a 3 part YouTube series of a carpenter building a loft ladder in Ellensburg. The rails are made from posts reclaimed from under my parents house. The steps are made from a mystery hard wood that Michael Manant gave my dad a while back. The notched in the rails for the steps were routered out with a custom jig that I made. The whole thing got screwed and glued together. I have two of the four coats of urethane on it and we are waiting to attach the metal hooks until after the floor is done do that we get just the right height. The ladder will hook on to the railing bolted on to the edge of the loft. Drew's grandpa down in Toledo, WA welds frame rails on big trucks. He did an amazing job of taking my drawings and turning them into the pipe with mounting brackets attached. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xXY_PHUcH6I/UBIvSJ2oaUI/AAAAAAAABp8/TaGsmgunfwE/s640/blogger-image--2085057915.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xXY_PHUcH6I/UBIvSJ2oaUI/AAAAAAAABp8/TaGsmgunfwE/s640/blogger-image--2085057915.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-M4Bd3nYeVX0/UBIvT5Vr4rI/AAAAAAAABqE/8IuNsmXv9MY/s640/blogger-image-1761072433.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-M4Bd3nYeVX0/UBIvT5Vr4rI/AAAAAAAABqE/8IuNsmXv9MY/s640/blogger-image-1761072433.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-f92ZYPp-SGI/UBIvUaoIbdI/AAAAAAAABqM/opcn_aBW810/s640/blogger-image--1951200524.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-f92ZYPp-SGI/UBIvUaoIbdI/AAAAAAAABqM/opcn_aBW810/s640/blogger-image--1951200524.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-dr4v8ChDR_Y/UBIvVJdyphI/AAAAAAAABqU/I5NZQhtxYg0/s640/blogger-image-258150768.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-dr4v8ChDR_Y/UBIvVJdyphI/AAAAAAAABqU/I5NZQhtxYg0/s640/blogger-image-258150768.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-uzvCZotsa4c/UBIvV-obJ9I/AAAAAAAABqc/EMfnUZIOzCk/s640/blogger-image-1046872628.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-uzvCZotsa4c/UBIvV-obJ9I/AAAAAAAABqc/EMfnUZIOzCk/s640/blogger-image-1046872628.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-uDM-swUpl7E/UBIvW7oaFRI/AAAAAAAABqk/Q42mHPX2OQ0/s640/blogger-image-1257934198.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-uDM-swUpl7E/UBIvW7oaFRI/AAAAAAAABqk/Q42mHPX2OQ0/s640/blogger-image-1257934198.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-32872999053514514422012-07-03T22:12:00.001-07:002012-07-03T22:12:15.029-07:00Tongue and Groove PineIt still needs trim and the ceiling under the loft isn't done, but it is fantastic! The pine was purchased from Arrow lumber at $.53/linear foot with 5" of coverage. It is 3/4" thick, but as these are the true dimensions, it is actually called 1"x6". Tomorrow I am going to start white washing it and then finishing touches can be installed!<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-bPwjykJFPLs/T_PQo-tG8RI/AAAAAAAABpI/v7ld1FpDcCM/s640/blogger-image--55603825.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-bPwjykJFPLs/T_PQo-tG8RI/AAAAAAAABpI/v7ld1FpDcCM/s640/blogger-image--55603825.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-SkKDqpO1Epw/T_PQppvNYrI/AAAAAAAABpQ/SWcKUysmcBA/s640/blogger-image--582768436.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-SkKDqpO1Epw/T_PQppvNYrI/AAAAAAAABpQ/SWcKUysmcBA/s640/blogger-image--582768436.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-LaMHZ5lJ0Lc/T_PQqBbV1mI/AAAAAAAABpY/Ge7eCm6AYhs/s640/blogger-image-2030541326.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-LaMHZ5lJ0Lc/T_PQqBbV1mI/AAAAAAAABpY/Ge7eCm6AYhs/s640/blogger-image-2030541326.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-FE0POBKwXgU/T_PQqh9jvLI/AAAAAAAABpg/OFfHVxzU8_o/s640/blogger-image-1368545819.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-FE0POBKwXgU/T_PQqh9jvLI/AAAAAAAABpg/OFfHVxzU8_o/s640/blogger-image-1368545819.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-mrTLLSnCeAg/T_PQrNO0MRI/AAAAAAAABpo/blC2YiB8Nis/s640/blogger-image--1948148408.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-mrTLLSnCeAg/T_PQrNO0MRI/AAAAAAAABpo/blC2YiB8Nis/s640/blogger-image--1948148408.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-jDdLlPVetLw/T_PQrX45WjI/AAAAAAAABpw/UQ0lO6-C45I/s640/blogger-image--789655540.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-jDdLlPVetLw/T_PQrX45WjI/AAAAAAAABpw/UQ0lO6-C45I/s640/blogger-image--789655540.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-45918223802348318392012-06-20T19:26:00.001-07:002012-06-20T19:26:08.968-07:00Electrical Tested and Insulation FinishedThe lights all work and the switches do what they are supposed to. Course we realized that we want more light. Long story short: I returned all the 3" LED recessed lights in exchange for 4" sized ones ($10 cheaper a piece) that are more than twice as bright. Go figure. Then I spent the beginning of this week finishing the insulation. Tomorrow I'm going to paint a little of the exterior and buy tongue and groove pine for the walls. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/--ynLqVuFhOc/T-KGM2WSCFI/AAAAAAAABoU/EJFV_zNa2OY/s640/blogger-image-1817549836.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/--ynLqVuFhOc/T-KGM2WSCFI/AAAAAAAABoU/EJFV_zNa2OY/s640/blogger-image-1817549836.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Np0vtUUA6Io/T-KGNtT627I/AAAAAAAABoc/erxQf1cADSI/s640/blogger-image--753929597.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Np0vtUUA6Io/T-KGNtT627I/AAAAAAAABoc/erxQf1cADSI/s640/blogger-image--753929597.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Bq8fjUJT40U/T-KGOWUmKNI/AAAAAAAABok/_DxSZ5_wpyE/s640/blogger-image--735817001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Bq8fjUJT40U/T-KGOWUmKNI/AAAAAAAABok/_DxSZ5_wpyE/s640/blogger-image--735817001.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-OUcXV1hcRBY/T-KGO_LMAtI/AAAAAAAABos/zhWPf_9f6ig/s640/blogger-image-1797606344.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-OUcXV1hcRBY/T-KGO_LMAtI/AAAAAAAABos/zhWPf_9f6ig/s640/blogger-image-1797606344.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-D7E9WYdXMw4/T-KGPYabhKI/AAAAAAAABo0/IyAKhXs3Kzg/s640/blogger-image-2006202883.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-D7E9WYdXMw4/T-KGPYabhKI/AAAAAAAABo0/IyAKhXs3Kzg/s640/blogger-image-2006202883.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-yxhF882TrQA/T-KGP00s-sI/AAAAAAAABo8/rwPNvvwD384/s640/blogger-image-1815958911.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-yxhF882TrQA/T-KGP00s-sI/AAAAAAAABo8/rwPNvvwD384/s640/blogger-image-1815958911.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-52959035769061944882012-06-12T10:13:00.001-07:002012-06-12T10:13:13.934-07:00Electrical DiagramsI know that this is not how electricians draw out their plans, but these should work as handy references. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RFOxj4jxE1I/T9d4p--krQI/AAAAAAAABoA/S0Sw0qI1084/s640/blogger-image--1230907625.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RFOxj4jxE1I/T9d4p--krQI/AAAAAAAABoA/S0Sw0qI1084/s640/blogger-image--1230907625.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-wkPOdgYwW70/T9d4qMy4apI/AAAAAAAABoI/IOLksOD1EvI/s640/blogger-image-646476436.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-wkPOdgYwW70/T9d4qMy4apI/AAAAAAAABoI/IOLksOD1EvI/s640/blogger-image-646476436.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-74349209966997316432012-05-30T22:10:00.001-07:002012-05-30T22:10:39.692-07:00Super Secret Screen RackThis is one of those little details that people wish they had built into their home. This afternoon it didn't rain and I took care of it. There is a layer of tar paper above the aluminum flashing to keep it from reacting to the pressure treated wood in a bad way. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-eJbSvUGmwwg/T727ysV6bDI/AAAAAAAABno/qEqTrqPHZUA/s640/blogger-image-1847060334.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-eJbSvUGmwwg/T727ysV6bDI/AAAAAAAABno/qEqTrqPHZUA/s640/blogger-image-1847060334.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-88108226398135892472012-05-23T21:32:00.001-07:002012-05-23T21:32:16.056-07:00Electrical...So we have officially started working on the electrical. All of the boxes for switches, outlets, fans, and whatever else we needed are installed. We have a small AC breaker box with 6 - 15 amp circuits and 1 - 20 amp circuit. Additionally, we ordered a DC converter box with 4 fuses from Apalachee RV. The lighting, two car outlets, heater fan, and car stereo with 4 car speakers are all on the DC system. Also, after much persuasion from my father we are installing a small 24" ceiling fan with a light. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-vrsI5JdgabA/T725yK5pvAI/AAAAAAAABnI/RP61K_txVqU/s640/blogger-image--2078682500.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-vrsI5JdgabA/T725yK5pvAI/AAAAAAAABnI/RP61K_txVqU/s640/blogger-image--2078682500.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-FbY5Sz8kor8/T725ykcRsSI/AAAAAAAABnQ/KHYMZwKC5MI/s640/blogger-image-1962860425.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-FbY5Sz8kor8/T725ykcRsSI/AAAAAAAABnQ/KHYMZwKC5MI/s640/blogger-image-1962860425.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-wAamtaQ8p1s/T725zCsxJ3I/AAAAAAAABnY/bn5mLvadJao/s640/blogger-image--166812441.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-wAamtaQ8p1s/T725zCsxJ3I/AAAAAAAABnY/bn5mLvadJao/s640/blogger-image--166812441.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-N5C3kQ9dTbE/T725zsed9eI/AAAAAAAABng/D221W3O-3kA/s640/blogger-image--912075807.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-N5C3kQ9dTbE/T725zsed9eI/AAAAAAAABng/D221W3O-3kA/s640/blogger-image--912075807.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-38628932382241289242012-05-11T23:03:00.001-07:002012-05-11T23:06:19.885-07:00A DoorBut it is not just a door. Thanks to my dad and his ability to turn "modify" into a swear word it opens and shuts so smoothly. The 24" door was found at a thrift store as part of a French door set for $25. After finding a door jamb in the garage going to waste, we set to work. We had no idea that meant converting the jamb for a thinner door and converting it from an opening in door to an opening out door. We initially had the clearances between the door and the jamb too close too... you get the picture. But isn't it pretty now? Soon the varnish will get stripped and then painted a tbd color. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-H-DRJZxPUmA/T639PvWszyI/AAAAAAAABm8/c8O8YXXZGXw/s640/blogger-image--1408128956.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-H-DRJZxPUmA/T639PvWszyI/AAAAAAAABm8/c8O8YXXZGXw/s640/blogger-image--1408128956.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-89604979728287881972012-05-11T22:47:00.001-07:002012-05-11T22:47:57.243-07:00Range Hood VentInstalled! It wasn't too complicated, but is always a bit of a bear cutting semi-precise cuts in just the siding. This fan was the cheapest you can buy and one of the few available with 3" ducting. The fan is installed in the ceiling above the toilet and the vent goes out the back of the house. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-bVtnpCTAj8g/T6mk7z7KV3I/AAAAAAAABmE/YYitbni4fd8/s640/blogger-image--769910042.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-bVtnpCTAj8g/T6mk7z7KV3I/AAAAAAAABmE/YYitbni4fd8/s640/blogger-image--769910042.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Q77ZjyqpQTM/T6mk8EeifbI/AAAAAAAABmM/auS4A5-aCHw/s640/blogger-image-1818959765.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Q77ZjyqpQTM/T6mk8EeifbI/AAAAAAAABmM/auS4A5-aCHw/s640/blogger-image-1818959765.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-27494617557004347202012-05-04T18:26:00.001-07:002012-05-08T15:50:32.856-07:00Heater Exhaust CapIn between downpours I managed to cut the hole for the heater intake/exhaust vent and to install the cap that comes with the heater. Ideally, it would be installed on a horizontal surface, but we should get satisfactory results out of this. Many people seem to be concerned about the proximity to the window. However, since the stove has to be hand lit every time we don't have to deal with a constant tiny stream of fumes sneaking in an open window. <br />
I also discovered that the venting doesn't corner very quickly. This means the stove will need to be screwed to a box built several inches out the wall. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-UEhqgJy3SOQ/T6SB3-GKMrI/AAAAAAAABlk/whbaw874O6A/s640/blogger-image--60333745.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-UEhqgJy3SOQ/T6SB3-GKMrI/AAAAAAAABlk/whbaw874O6A/s640/blogger-image--60333745.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-QuxCQftTWUs/T6VdOZtmHPI/AAAAAAAABlw/mvRUrShs0_0/s640/blogger-image-1902270284.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-QuxCQftTWUs/T6VdOZtmHPI/AAAAAAAABlw/mvRUrShs0_0/s640/blogger-image-1902270284.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-3fH7qRjv4wA/T6mjNyBPrKI/AAAAAAAABl8/YxrWHrEWLTY/s640/blogger-image--438122919.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-3fH7qRjv4wA/T6mjNyBPrKI/AAAAAAAABl8/YxrWHrEWLTY/s640/blogger-image--438122919.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-87434385248874100892012-05-03T15:24:00.001-07:002012-05-03T15:24:45.500-07:00First Layer of Insulation CompleteThe first layer was 2"of rigid styrofoam. It took 14 a 4' x 8' sheets of the stuff to piece it all together. Just think, in a little while I get to do it all over again with 1 1/2" after the electrical is done. Then I'll also need to fill in the gaps with spray in foam. <br />
<br />
So now I'm trying to put the remaining holes in the walls for venting and such. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-HKRFUd1GWfA/T6MFp4If9KI/AAAAAAAABlQ/CllR_xP_qpM/s640/blogger-image-498423541.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-HKRFUd1GWfA/T6MFp4If9KI/AAAAAAAABlQ/CllR_xP_qpM/s640/blogger-image-498423541.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-kA0qmV7TrCc/T6MFq4RvzeI/AAAAAAAABlY/eySqtGOOfQ0/s640/blogger-image--387951998.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-kA0qmV7TrCc/T6MFq4RvzeI/AAAAAAAABlY/eySqtGOOfQ0/s640/blogger-image--387951998.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-11677523241715144632012-04-29T22:55:00.001-07:002012-04-29T22:55:20.411-07:00Cabinet KnobsI bought these blown glass magnets at a fundraiser several years ago. I love them, but unfortunately I won't have much refrigerator space for them in the new house. So the magnets are getting removed from these and then the glass will get glued to some existing knobs. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-jBug-08Pdqk/T54pR8mHGmI/AAAAAAAABlE/uNBM849FlLU/s640/blogger-image--1961128113.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-jBug-08Pdqk/T54pR8mHGmI/AAAAAAAABlE/uNBM849FlLU/s640/blogger-image--1961128113.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-78282576623849686702012-04-27T21:26:00.001-07:002012-04-27T21:26:34.404-07:00Reinforced Loft FloorWhen the loft was designed, it didn't quite have two heavy people in mind... so we decided it could use a little addition to the 24 on center. The boards we salvaged from some painted project some time ago and found in one of the out buildings. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-omByOfmLrdY/T5txeUEVCXI/AAAAAAAABk4/Dmg5YOkECr4/s640/blogger-image--1834011255.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-omByOfmLrdY/T5txeUEVCXI/AAAAAAAABk4/Dmg5YOkECr4/s640/blogger-image--1834011255.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-59473255813629779902012-04-26T10:44:00.001-07:002012-04-26T10:44:20.766-07:00Cat Door InstalledJuno now has a way to get in and out of the house on her own. This will come in handy since I let her in or out of the trailer six times last night. She'll love having the house done too. Now I just need to come up with a ramp or step so she can actually get in. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-WEF4P8NvIjw/T5mJct27ylI/AAAAAAAABks/KrQZY8ExWKM/s640/blogger-image-133639330.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-WEF4P8NvIjw/T5mJct27ylI/AAAAAAAABks/KrQZY8ExWKM/s640/blogger-image-133639330.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8115043218006674049.post-40096727451859287882012-04-25T21:47:00.001-07:002012-04-25T22:00:18.566-07:00Interior TouchesOur new flip clock came in the mail today. I love the look, the big numbers, and the lack of ticking (so Drew can sleep). <br />
<br />
Also, thanks to Mom's brown paper bag flooring DIY discovery, we may have just figured out how we are going to finish the floors. Instead of bags, we'll use old maps. Mom already donated an old atlas to the cause. I'll be on the lookout for more in thrift stores. Basically, you crumple up maps, flatten them out again, glue them to the floor, and coat them thickly with serious polyurethane. <br />

Tongue and groove pine goes in really easily, especially with a nail gun. Now I just need to sand and coat with urethane a couple times. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-1CJS6ZitRbw/T5YmeJ9RZOI/AAAAAAAABkA/eMiUAHUmnTY/s640/blogger-image--17100909.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-1CJS6ZitRbw/T5YmeJ9RZOI/AAAAAAAABkA/eMiUAHUmnTY/s640/blogger-image--17100909.jpg" /></a></div>Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17125001345477928262noreply@blogger.com1
